Each of my projects is imbued with a purposeful narrative and meticulous design intent, yet one holds a special place in my heart: a house conceived with the aspiration of one day gracing the shores of Mykonos, Greece. Renowned for its breathtaking beauty, pristine beaches, and iconic townscapes, Mykonos has recently witnessed a surge in residential development, resulting in an array of stunning homes that dot its landscape. Embracing the island's Cycladic architectural tradition, which mandates predominantly white exteriors, my design endeavors to infuse a contemporary sensibility into this timeless aesthetic.
At its core, the design ethos of this envisioned residence transcends the conventional perception of cubic minimalism, embracing a nuanced interplay of precise lines and simple geometric forms to articulate distinct spatial experiences. Situated on a flat expanse overlooking the azure waters, the site provides a blank canvas for architectural exploration. While the architectural framework serves as a vessel for spatial delineation, my passion for furniture design converges seamlessly, recognizing that it is the interplay of structure and furnishings that truly animates a space.
With unwavering attention to detail, I conceive furniture pieces that echo the language of the architecture, harmonizing form and function to imbue each room with a sense of cohesion and refinement. This holistic approach to design underscores my belief in the symbiotic relationship between built environment and interior elements, culminating in a harmonious synthesis of space and form. As I continue to refine my craft, I remain committed to crafting environments that transcend mere functionality, fostering a sense of place and belonging that resonates deeply with inhabitants and visitors alike.
The genesis of this architectural marvel traces back to a transformative journey to Bordeaux, where an encounter with the opulent estates of the French Riviera left an indelible imprint on my design sensibilities. Nestled amidst the picturesque countryside, our sojourn brought us in close proximity to grandiose residences that exuded an aura of timeless elegance and magnificence. Inspired by the ethos of French luxury living, this residence embodies a harmonious fusion of classical grandeur and contemporary sophistication. The narrative unfolds with the grandeur of the driveway, a deliberate gesture to evoke a sense of arrival and splendor. Stretching along the horizontal axis of the house, the driveway imbues the property with a sense of exclusivity and grandeur, ensuring a dignified distance from the bustling street. At the heart of the residence lies the majestic staircase, an architectural tour de force that ascends around a vertical, glass-encased wine cellar, serving as the pièce de résistance. Evoking a sense of drama and theatricality, this central feature epitomizes the ethos of the house – one of refined extravagance and exquisite craftsmanship.
Throughout the residence, lofty ceilings accentuate the sense of grandeur, particularly evident in the double-height main living room adorned with a captivating mezzanine above. Here, the interplay of light and space creates a sense of expansiveness and airiness, inviting inhabitants to revel in moments of contemplation and conviviality. The ancillary spaces, including the gym, cinema, and secondary living areas, are conceived with a sense of understated elegance, yet each bears the imprint of bespoke craftsmanship through meticulously curated custom furnishings. In essence, this residence stands as a testament to the enduring allure of French Riviera living, where architectural splendor intertwines with refined sophistication to create a sanctuary of unparalleled luxury and refinement. I endeavor to channel this spirit of elegance and grandeur into my own design practice, aspiring to craft spaces that transcend mere functionality, elevating the human experience to new heights of aesthetic delight and spatial harmony.
For this project, my design journey was sparked by the innovative contemporary high-rise developments shaping South Florida's skyline, notably drawing inspiration from Zaha Hadid's groundbreaking One Thousand Museum. Employing cutting-edge parametric design techniques, I crafted a dynamic main façade reminiscent of undulating waves crashing against the building's exterior, imbuing the hotel with a sense of fluidity and movement. Central to the concept was the creation of a luxurious penthouse atop the structure, meticulously crafted to offer a glimpse into the elevated living experience envisioned for the hotel's discerning residents.
Viewed through the lens of a developer, the project's key selling points encompass the structural ingenuity of the building, an array of enticing amenities, and the allure of premium residences situated on the upper floors. The penthouse, serving as the pinnacle of sophistication, boasts a distinctive entrance foyer accessible directly from the elevator, setting the stage for a bespoke residential experience. Within, the interior aesthetic veers towards a modern and minimalist ethos, with a predominant use of white hues echoing the contemporary chic prevalent across Miami's urban landscape.
Furthermore, the project integrates elevated amenities such as an upper-floor pool offering panoramic views, as well as an underground garage ensuring secure parking for residents. Through meticulous attention to detail and a nuanced understanding of contemporary architectural trends, this endeavor represents a convergence of design innovation and urban luxury, aimed at redefining the skyline and elevating the residential experience in South Florida's vibrant metropolis.
The concept of this house design was rooted in the unique topographical features of a sloped site, offering a compelling canvas for architectural exploration. Embracing the challenge posed by the terrain, I endeavored to harmonize the natural contours of the landscape with the built environment, manifesting in a design narrative that celebrates both form and function. Central to this approach was the strategic accentuation of horizontal lines, particularly manifested in the design of flat roofs to provide optimal shading for the lower outdoor terraces, seamlessly integrating the dwelling with its surroundings while ensuring comfort and livability.
Beyond the structural framework, my design philosophy extends to the realm of interior architecture, where I sought to elevate the living experience through the creation of captivating and dynamic spaces. Recognizing the intrinsic connection between furniture and the essence of home, I embraced the role of interior designer to curate environments imbued with character and warmth. Each bespoke staircase, lighting fixture, and table serves as a testament to my dedication to detail, culminating in a tapestry of design elements that imbue each room with its own unique identity and emotive resonance. I am committed to pushing the boundaries of design innovation, transcending the conventional notion of dwelling to craft spaces that evoke a profound sense of belonging and delight.
In the summer of 2017, my family and I visited Barcelona, where the city's rich architectural heritage, particularly the work of Antoni Gaudí, left a lasting impression. Foremost among these landmarks was the ethereal Park Güell, a testament to Gaudí's unparalleled genius and a beacon of artistic innovation. The park's lush fauna and whimsical flora served as a catalyst for my vision of creating an oasis-like retreat, where nature and architecture intertwine harmoniously.
Drawing upon Gaudí's mastery of organic forms and geometric abstraction, I endeavored to infuse my project with a sense of surreal beauty and architectural poetry. Experimenting with unique yet understated geometric shapes, I sought to capture the essence of Barcelona's architectural vernacular while imbuing the design with a contemporary sensibility. From the vibrant and expressive exterior palette inspired by Gaudí's vivid color palette, to the serene and subdued interior spaces, my design ethos was rooted in a dialogue between contrast and harmony.
In crafting the interior experience, I eschewed conventional color schemes in favor of a palette that celebrates the inherent materiality of furnishings and architectural elements. Neutral tones serve as a backdrop for a curated selection of materials, chosen for their tactile richness and unique textural qualities. Each piece of furniture and surface treatment is meticulously selected to imbue the space with a sense of tactility and depth, creating an immersive environment that engages the senses and evokes a profound sense of serenity. My aspiration is to continue exploring the intersection of art, nature, and design, channeling the spirit of Barcelona's architectural heritage into spaces that inspire wonder and delight.
This architectural endeavor draws inspiration from the vibrant contemporary and tropical vernacular of Miami, renowned for its exquisite waterfront residences and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Embracing this ethos, my design narrative unfolds as a testament to the city's architectural legacy, reimagining the quintessential Miami home through a lens of modernity and sophistication. At the heart of the concept lies a profound desire to forge a symbiotic relationship between water and dwelling, manifested in the grandeur of the main entrance adorned with expansive stone platforms enveloped by tranquil pools.
Upon entry, the interplay of water and architecture unfolds, with a central pool spanning the length of the residence, serving as a dynamic focal point that divides the space and blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior realms. Symmetry becomes a guiding principle, echoing the harmonious balance inherent in Miami's architectural landscape, with rooms adorned in complementary colors and textures, evoking a sense of cohesion and elegance. The subtropical climate of the region infuses the home with lush greenery and tropical accents, further enhancing its allure and connection to the natural environment.
In crafting bespoke furniture and fixtures, my design approach remains rooted in a reverence for the home's architectural form, with geometric lighting fixtures, kitchen islands, and bookcases meticulously crafted to echo the square contours of the residence and its expansive windows. Beyond mere aesthetics, the integration of outdoor amenities such as a fitness area with a gym and tennis court speaks to the lifestyle ethos emblematic of Miami living, where leisure and wellness are celebrated with equal fervor. Reflecting on this project as one of my earliest endeavors, I recognize the journey of growth and evolution inherent in the practice of architecture, marked by a commitment to continual learning and refinement. I am driven by a passion to push the boundaries of design innovation, imbuing each project with a sense of purpose, elegance, and enduring beauty.
While designing this house I wanted to create something different but keeping the style similar. I was thinking, while brainstorming I was sketching images of different facades. After a couple sketches I had found an idea of what to do, I let my imagination fly. Inspired by a some log cabins in the Alps of Switzerland. My idea was to take my sketch, a house in the mountains and stylize the house to my liking, an elegant modern white house. I really wanted to show the stonework of the house with many of the corner walls structured with stone walls to provide a natural element to the house as well as a structural aspect to the house. One of the parts of the house I would like to highlight is the main entrance’s lighting fixture, which starts at, the top of the house and hangs down to the main floor. Another interesting feature of the house is the backyard, I tried to create a very simple yet unique space, that can be used in the winter too. The heated pool during the winter allows for a really special render.
Original Sketch
This house was not supposed to be located in any specific region of the world, rather I wanted to experiment with the design of a house. I wanted to experiment with the features of the home at the same time keeping my style of design throughout the home. The home has clean lines and an open floor plan. The exterior of the house has a minimalist design with large windows to let in natural light. I wanted the home to be a large compound, with multiple rooms and structures along with the house itself, such as an attached guest wing and a gym. The underground garage’s entrance can be seen right as you drive down the driveway. The interior consists of a neutral color palette with sleek and contemporary furnishings. The kitchen is state-of-the-art, with stainless steel appliances and a large island. The overall aesthetic is minimalistic, elegant, and functional.
For this house I was inspired by the town houses in the suburbs of a larger city. The overall aesthetic is bright, open and uncluttered. I still wanted to keep the modern and contemporary appeal to the house, so I made most of the house white with black and grey stone accents. I had seen in previous houses on television, in the kitchen there were two islands. One for the actual cooking and the other for eating. I really like the floor plan. The house is much smaller compared to the other ones I’ve created, but I think architecturally it’s tasteful.
This was one of my first projects, of course my desire as an architect is to design residential homes across the world in my own style that can be recognized in any country. I was first inspired by the luxurious houses in Miami, this house isn’t huge compared to most of the houses that are seen in this area so my idea was to focus more on the details of the house and to really make the façade unique compared to most of the cubic boxes that are typically being built now by developers whose primary goal is to maximize profits rather than create a beautiful structure. Keeping a minimal structure, the floor plan is open allowing for more curtain walls to showcase the amazing views of the site.
A project that is truly remarkable keeping the ultra modern theme to the house. I imagined the house being somewhere tropical. This modern villa in Malibu has a luxurious, contemporary design. The exterior of the villa is a combination of sleek, modern lines and natural materials such as wood, stone, and glass. The villa’s large windows take advantage of the beautiful ocean views that Malibu is known for. The interior of the villa is spacious, with high ceilings and an open floor plan. The décor is modern, with a neutral color palette and a focus on natural light. The living and dining areas flows seamlessly into a gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances. The bedrooms are large and luxurious, with en-suite bathrooms and private balconies or terraces. The villa also has outdoor spaces such as a patio, terrace, and infinity pool. Overall, the aesthetic is sleek, sophisticated and elegant and it reflects the natural surroundings.
This was the first house I had created after teaching myself some of the more intricate features of Revit. I immediately implemented those skills into the house. I tried to keep the house very sleek and contemporary, using white walls and dark accents really gives the house a modern aesthetic. Especially the facade of the front of the building. I love the large modern, pivot door, however, it was something I adopted after watching several videos of property tours in Miami. My favorite part is the pool from the house it looks like a normal pool, but looking back at the house in the back you can see the glass wall.
Another conceptual bridge that originated from a quick sketch of mine. I was looking at how to design a functional bridge that can transport cars and trucks across. Although this is just a concept, my knowledge of properly designing bridges with structural integrity and strength is applicable since I haven’t taken any proper educational classes to be able to say that this bridge would work. However, I would love to be able to, one day, design one that I could say would stand and support the weight of all the cars on the bridge, with proper structural properties.
Soon after I realized that I wanted to study civil engineering in college, I wanted to try a project that has the classification as an engineering project, rather than an architectural one. I bought a Santiago Calatrava book about six months ago, and I fell in love with his work. In the summer I went to Greece with my family, and I forced them to take me to the Olympic Park just outside of Athens for the 2004 Olympics. There I saw my first Calatrava works, and they were amazing. I decided to mimic his design style with a concept he is so famous for designing. This footbridge was my first concept thinking like an engineer, but I still kept the white, contemporary aesthetic.
In my free time I love to sketch, I believe it is a way to create new ideas and practice reading old buildings by sketching them. I have multiple sketchbooks full of small details and intricate ideas for my next project that I will do. Before every project I design on Revit, I always start off by sketching some basic principles of what it could look like, I love using this technique to further develop ideas into more sophisticated drawings. I also practice drawing different types of drawings, different perspective drawings give more insight into a building and with them you can open your mind to visualize new ideas to better your design.
